However, there are lesser-known dog breeds out there that can make just as great a companion! Here are some dog breeds that start with “U”:
1) Utonagan
The Utonagan is a breed of domesticated wolf-dog hybrid originating in the UK. They have strikingly beautiful coats – usually grey, black, or white – coupled with piercing blue eyes and an athletic build. These dogs require lots of exercise and socialization but will reward their owners with loyalty and love.
2) Uruguayan Cimarron
Also known simply as Cimarrón Uruguayo or Bicho Colorado (“red bug”), this breed has its roots in Uruguay where it was developed for hunting purposes. These dogs have short hair which makes them easy to maintain but they do need regular exercise.
3) Utrechtse Heuvelrug Pointing Dog
One of the rarest dog breeds on earth,the Utrechtse Heuvelrug Pointing Dog originates from The Netherlands where it was selectively bred for pointing game birds.Their coat is usually brown-white speckled,and commonly used for hunting.
