Distemper in Dogs: Symptoms, Causes & Treatment

A contagious disease affecting the nervous system which eventually leads to death, especially in puppies between the ages of three and six months.

Physical Symptoms

Appetite loss, lethargy, depression, possible nasal discharge, fever. With later progression digestive upset, discharge from the eyes and nose, convulsions, paralysis, and death can result.

Cause/Transmission

Exposure to infected animals, body fluids, or feces.

Treatment

Consult your veterinarian. Generally, this disease does not respond well to treatment.
